Posting Guidelines
Tagging, rating, sourcing, and grouping are what make boorus/imageboards so handy for archiving and organizing artwork!
As such, it's very important to follow best practices when posting new artwork, which have been listed here for reference.
Before you start uploading art or adding/editing tags, PLEASE read through this page first!
I. POST TAGGING
✦ Formatting
Keep all tags written in lowercase!
Punctuation marks such as (), _, and ' are fine, but other marks should be kept out.
This helps avoid confusion on how certain tags (especially names) should be written.
If you find any tags that are written in uppercase by mistake, please comment so it can be fixed through board admin features.
✦ Categories
When uploading a new post, make sure to include the artist's username, the name(s) of the character(s), and the name(s) of any depicted series.
These can be done by entering artist:name, character:name, and series:name in the tag list respectively.
If a submission includes music, please add music:track artist - track title as well if you know the source.
✦ Usefulness
Additional tags to describe the post's content can be very helpful, but avoid tagging excessively or subjectively!
Always use existing tags whenever possible, and only create new tags if necessary.
✦ Consistency
When adding a new tag to describe a work, refer to how they're written on the Danbooru Wiki, as we'll often be using that as a reference.
Note that it's not strictly necessary to add tags that are implied by a frequently recurring character's design, such as their outfit or chitin thigh-highs.
However, you may still want to add them if certain features appear in multiple different designs.
II. POST RATING
Make sure that all posts are rated appropriately!
This way, we can avoid having certain kinds of content appear where they shouldn't.
If you're not sure what counts as safe, questionable, or explicit, refer to the criteria below:
✦ Safe
✦ Questionable
✦ Explicit
III. POST SOURCING
Proper credit and attribution are a must.
If you are uploading another artist's work, make sure to link to their original post!
This lets users know where they can go to support the artists, which we strongly encourage.
Should the original post no longer exist, a link to the artist's social media profile will suffice.
If you are uploading your own work, feel free to link to where it's posted elsewhere!

IV. POST GROUPING
For works that belong in a series (such as comics) or have alternate variants, please keep them grouped together by setting the first artwork as the parent post for all other works in the collection.
You can do so by setting the Parent value at the bottom to the desired post's ID number, which is shown in both the post's URL and in the description on the left.
